Submitting Essays
to Turnitin
Turnitin checks to ensure that your use of quotations
is accurate and that you haven't plagiarized anything. Your
essay will be scanned against the entire Internet and millions
of other students who have submitted essays to the Turnitin
database. To submit an essay, you must have already created
a new user profile.You also need to have an electronic
copy of your essay ready to upload. To submit, follow these
steps:
Step
One. Login to Turnitin using your regular
email address and the alphanumeric password your created in
your user profile. Remember, you don't need to click on create
a user profile--you already did that earlier. The computer
knows who you are--just Log in.

Step
Two. Enter your class by clicking on it.
If you have a lot of teachers using Turnitin, you may have
a few classes to choose from.

Step
Three. An assignment list should pop up.
If not, your teacher hasn't created one yet and you should
remind him or her to create one. Click on the submit icon
and upload your essay. When you click browse, a screen
will appear asking you to specify where it is on your harddrive.

Then . . .

Congratulations! How do you know it's plagiarized
or not? Well, if the teacher calls you into his or her office
next week or so, you'll know. The teacher may also enable
the preferences settings to allow you to see the results of
your own submissions.
