Supervisor(s):

Dr. Nahed Sobhi

Team Members:

Haitham Nasr
Hussam Haggag

General Objectives:

Increase the level of intelligence and safety in the automation lab in order to eliminate the existing defects of the lab.

Thesis I:
" Identifying the main problems in the automation lab by visiting the lab, which were identified as the low level of safety and the low level of intelligence.
" Coming up with a list of proposed intelligence for each of the main lab components.
" Finding out the required equipment needed to satisfy each of the proposed intelligence functions and evaluating their feasibility.
" Choosing the necessary functions and the elements of the lab for which the functions will be implemented.
" Coming up with designs and trying to optimize the design to correctly implement the intelligence functions.

Thesis II:
" Optimizing of the design.
" Implementing the design in the automation lab
Implementing the function of identification of the presence of the workpiece through the implementation of the DVT camera.

Achievements:

" The lab is more helpful for Meng 447 students as they will be familiar with concepts like CIM and artificial intelligence through working with various sensors and devices implemented by this senior project.
" The level of safety was considerably increased.
