General Objectives:

This senior thesis project selected the topic of lean manufacturing as the point of focus. The aim was to use various techniques of lean manufacturing and apply them on the manufacturing processes of a ceiling fan produced by the mentioned company.
Objective 490:
The objective of the first part of the thesis was to gather information about the concept of lean manufacturing (which is "a series of techniques for identifying and eliminating waste by continuously improving the flow of the customer").
Objective 491:
Using the techniques studied in 490 and applying them on the manufacturing processes of a selected product, which is the ceiling fan. The goal is to reduce the waste and "non-value added activities".

Achievements:

The project succeeded in reducing the waste and non-value added activities determined by the team. The project resulted in time and cost savings as well as a more efficient working environment in terms of labor and process flow.

Student Evaluation:

1- How did u come up with the idea of the thesis project?
A friend in the group had some background about this topic and convinced the members that this phenomenon could be applied to any organization and that it would be useful for us in the future.

2- What difficulties did u face?
Finding the factory in which we could enter deeply into it and its structure and interfere in it. Some group members didn't know each other well. We were friends but we did not deal with each other in previous projects.

3- Suggest any improvements or feasible recommendations.
It is better for group members to have dealt with each other as a team in other courses and projects.
