An Integrated Solid Waste Management System for Port Said

Objectives:

	Develop a solid waste management system in Port Said Governorate
	Develop a transfer station in the composting plant
	Commercialize the innovative recycling system for rejects
	Propose the best sterilization alternative for the hazardous medical waste

Achievements:

Regarding the medical waste, a system was proposed to convert the hazardous waste into non-hazardous waste with minimum cost. The system includes a collection strategy and an electron beam accelerator.

As for the municipal waste, a collection strategy, that takes into consideration all sources of wastes was developed. the waste is accumulated at the transfer station stored at the sorting conveyor to separate the different types of waste. The remaining waste (mainly organic) proceeds to the composting plant, firstly shredded and then fermented and finally refined to be ready to sell.
