The scope and content of the collection

The Papers document Creswell’s scholarly accomplishments in Islamic art and architecture, as well as details of his personal life.

They contain personal and professional lectures, bibliographic index cards, book reviews, clippings, research notes, and other memorabilia, as well as photographs Creswell took or collected. The photographs are catalogued separately.

The Creswell Papers comprise approximately 12 feet of material—about 24 archival boxes—excluding bibliographic index cards, photos, stencil kit, buttons, coins, oversized manuscripts, and other miscellaneous items.
