As the move to the new campus commences, Academic Computing Services (ACS) is reminding all users of the importance of backing up their PCs to external media. Documentation with detailed steps on how to conduct this procedure for both the PC and Mac are available on the ACS website at: http://www.aucegypt.edu/academics/llt/acs/pages/default.aspx
Passwords
In order to facilitate the re-configuration of PCs to operate and connect successfully in the new campus environment, PC passwords have to be handled in one of two methods to enable technical support personnel to carry out necessary configuration tasks. Users have a choice of a) disabling the password or b) keeping the password but having a department representative who has the password(s) present on the day of the move to assist technical support personnel in accessing the PCs.
Departments who are NOT depending upon the assistance of ACS during the move, should please follow the instructions and procedures in the document named 'moveguide.pdf', BEFORE disassembling the PCs. Users who do not follow these procedures will NOT be able to successfully operate in the new campus environment. The document can be accessed at: http://www.aucegypt.edu/academics/llt/acs/pages/default.aspx
Disassembly
To those departments depending upon ACS for the move of their PCs, we once more remind everyone NOT to disconnect or disassemble PCs in anyway. ACS will be responsible for conducting re-configuration and disassembly of PCs as necessary; provisions for the handling of passwords have been arranged (see above).
