Move Captains have been selected by the various schools, departments and administrative offices, in order to ensure a smooth coordination between their respective units and the Facilities and Services (F&S) staff handling AUC's move to the new campus this summer.
"This will enable us to regularly update the appointed contact person representing each unit on the procedures that the AUC community will need to adopt over the next six months," said Engineer Mohamed Abdel Gawad, senior advisor, campus transition.
Acting as the intermediary contact persons for move-related matters, the captains will attend regular meetings with F&S starting this month during which they will be asked to confirm, clarify and update individual space allocation requirements for their respective area.
Among their other responsibilities, the move captains will ensure that all packing materials and supplies for their unit are delivered; arrange for assistance by F&S where and when help is needed to pack and label office belongings; turn over the boxed office contents and keys to F&S; guarantee that deadlines of the moving timetable are met; and coordinate with F&S the receipt and delivery of their unit's boxes to the designated locations at the new campus.
"We will really need to rely on the move captains as they will be our key contact persons for collecting and verifying information on the specific steps and timetable of the move," said Paul Donoghue, vice president for planning and administration.
A detailed preliminary timetable showing the planned move dates will be distributed in the next two weeks.
