Office Hours

The university is considering changing the standard office hours to 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in order to align AUC with standard business hours, be more accessible and improve services to both our internal customers and the outside community. Over the next few weeks, our Human Resources Office will be working with the input that you have provided to determine how best we can organize those office hours. It is expected that direct supervisors will work with staff to ensure that all offices are covered to provide full services during those hours. While the university will work with managers in developing a flexible work schedule for all staff, it is expected that that the majority of employees will be providing services from 8:30 to 4:30, with a one-hour break for lunch. Abstaining from a lunch break would not entitle an employee to leave work earlier and the university would encourage staff to take a break mid-day.  Actual hours of work will not increase.

Draft policies that permit some flexibility to those hours of service are in development and will be shared with staff as soon as possible.  In the meantime, we should undertake whatever planning may be required to accommodate the proposed new office hours.
