The first occupants of the new campus administration building are now unpacking their boxes and settling into their new offices. Among the most recent newcomers are the core academic center, the library, the bookstore and the human resources office.
“I definitely like my new office,” said Ahmed El Rashidi, director of staff relations, human resources office, and assigned move captain for his area. “It is clean and white and the space and set-up are better,” added El Rashidi, who has been working at AUC for 24 years and has moved offices four times during the past couple of decades.
“Our boxes left from the downtown campus last Thursday and by 8 pm the same day they were all moved to our offices on the new campus,” explained El Rashidi, pleased with the smooth relocation process. Today all the computers are up and running and the human resources staff can soon work out of their new space.
Those offices from communications and marketing, previously located on Tahrir’s main campus have also moved. Their remaining offices, currently still at Youssef El Guindi will be relocating to the new campus in a couple weeks as part of Phase 2, along with the three schools and the Campus Center.
“Although things are still a bit dusty and there will be some bumps along the road as we all settle into our new offices, the move is progressing nicely and the new campus is starting to come alive,” said Paul Donoghue, VP for planning and administration, whose office is now based on the new campus.
“We will most certainly face challenges over the coming months, and the best way to overcome them is with patience and good humor,” added Donoghue.
