To get better acquainted with the new campus and experience first-hand the impressive progress of the construction site, AUC is organizing guided tours of the new campus situated in New Cairo starting this month.

“We want AUC staff, faculty and students to have an orientation of the new campus before the move in June,” said Ranya Boraie, associate director for special events, communications and marketing office, who will be conducting the tours.
Starting November 26, the AUC community will be able to visit the new campus. Two tours are scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays. For the morning tour, a bus will depart from the downtown campus at 9 am. The tour will begin at 10 am, lasting approximately one hour. The afternoon tour will begin at 2 pm, but transportation will not be provided.
The weekday tours tour will be limited to 25 persons. “We can only accommodate a couple dozens people at a time for safety reasons,” said Boraie, noting that more than 7,000 workers are currently working on the site. Departments can however opt to block a tour in order to visit the new campus as a group
An additional weekend tour is offered on Saturdays for those who are unable to visit the new campus during the week. The bus will leave from the downtown campus at 10 am. This tour can hold up to 50 persons and begins at 11 am.
“We would like to encourage the AUC community to visit the site now that it is going through a phase of tremendous and rapid changes,” said Boraie, who already works at the new campus.
The three tours that will run through May will not include the visits to any internal spaces. “This is because of safety concerns and in order not to disrupt the construction work,” explained Boraie.
Visitors going on a new campus tour are strongly advised to wear pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and closed, comfortable walking shoes.
To sign up for one of the tours of the new campus, contact Ranya Boraie, ext. 5594 or 8019 rboraie@aucegypt.edu or Diana Faltas, ext 5022 dfaltas@aucegypt.edu. Names will be registered on a first-come first-serve basis.
