The Office of Institutional Planning, Assessment, Research and Testing (IPART) is currently analyzing the results from the just completed student survey.
A separate survey specifically targeting staff and faculty will also be administered in the coming weeks to fine tune transportation needs and patterns of AUC's community. These are the final surveys that AUC will be conducting in order to verify housing locations and passenger demand. Efforts are currently under way to try to add another pickup point for Mohandissen and one for Dokki.
"The preliminary bus schedule will be directly adjusted to the information we get from these surveys," said Paul Donoghue, vice president for planning and administration, stressing the importance of maximum survey participation. "We also need to get a sense of how people will behave as we start to move to the new campus," he added.
The schedule is designed to guarantee hourly service during peak hours. Buses will run approximately from 7:15 am to midnight. They will also operate on weekends but at a reduced schedule. Separate buses will transport custodians and trade workers to accommodate their different shifts.
Meanwhile, the AUC shuttle will start running June 1, 2008 to provide transportation for commuting staff members whose offices are relocating to the new campus early in the summer. It will offer a limited service with a reduced number of buses and frequency until the extended schedule comes into effect in September.
