Timeline - Move*

February 2008
Initial meetings with all move captains; schedule for each office and department move is provided to faculty and staff.

March 2008
Prepare labels, boxes and supplies for move.

April-May 2008
Move captain training; preparation for move:

  • Four weeks before move boxes and labels will be provided and staff/faculty will pack offices
  • Three days before the move the move captain will sign receipt for boxes and hand keys over to the university.

June - August 2008
Move takes place.

  • Four days after an office/department is moved keys will be provided to move captain; equipment will be unpacked and installed; and staff/faculty can unpack in new offices.

* Timeline schedule may be adjusted based on unforeseen circumstances.

Timeline - Construction

Fall 1997
Site acquisition.

Spring 1998
Dober, Lidsky, Craig, and Associates, Inc. retained to prepare the facilities space program.

Summer 1998
Site survey, topographical mapping and geotechnical study conducted.

Summer 1999
Jury reviews the six finalists' proposals for the masterplan; Boston Design Collaborative (BDC) & Carol R. Johnson Associates (CRJA) selected to develop the master plan.

Fall 2000
AUC's Board of Trustees approves the master plan and the urban design proposal for the new campus.

Summer 2002
Site preparation, infrastructure and service tunnel construction.

Winter 2003
Formal groundbreaking.

November / December 2007
Substantial completion of tunnel, library, Dr. and Mrs. Elias K. Hebeka Bookstore and Mostafa Core Academic Center.

January 2008
Substantial completion of utility plant, research centers building, PVA theater, information center and administration building.

February 2008
Substantial completion of Abdul Latif Jameel Management Center, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud Hall, School of Sciences and Engineering, campus center, physical plant, student housing and indoor sports facilities.

April 2008
Substantial completion of spine and plaza landscaping.

May 2008
Substantial completion of additional units of student housing and outer campus.

June - August 2008
Occupancy/relocation.
