Health, Safety & Security

AUC is strongly committed to the physical, intellectual, and emotional wellbeing of faculty, staff and students. An Emergency Management Team, chaired by the Vice President for Planning and Administration, oversees and directs emergency operations and distributes an Emergency Procedures Manual to all members of the campus community.

Message from the chair of the emergency management team

Personal Safety

While Cairo is a friendly city in which to live, work, and study, AUC reminds students and staff to exercise the normal prudence one would in any large city.

Health Services

The AUC Clinic offers routine care, emergency first-aid, controlled dispensing of prescription medicines, and referrals to specialists or hospitals when necessary. The Clinic is open during working hours when classes are in session, and emergency contacts are available at all times. A counseling center also provides services to students.

Safety on Campus

The Department of Environmental Health and Safety monitors conditions and encourages safe practices, including careful use and disposal of chemicals, wearing of protective gear, and a non-smoking policy in AUC buildings.

Security

The University's trained security team works in close cooperation with the Egyptian government to safeguard the campus and dormitory. All entrances are monitored and secured, with access controlled via ID checks, metal detectors, and bag searches.
