Washington, D.C.
- Write as Washington, D.C. (with a comma after Washington) or District of Columbia when referring to the U.S. capital.
- Use state of Washington or Washington state to refer to the state.
- Do not abbreviate Washington as Wash.
Web site
- Two words.
- When writing Web sites, remove http://: AUC’s Web site is www.aucegypt.edu.

West, west
- See directions.
withdraw (v.), withdrawal (n.)
- Withdraw is used as a verb: He will withdraw his application.
- Withdrawal is used as a noun: The dean accepted his withdrawal form.
WF
- Withdrawal with a failing grade. Capitalize and do not put in quotation marks.
work study
- A program that allows students to work part time while continuing their studies. Student employment is preferred.
world-class
- World-class is an adjective. Hyphenate in all cases.
WP
