The branches and grassroots of the National Council for Women have all simultaneously launched the NCW Sixth Conference “Women Economic Empowerment: Path towards Poverty Reduction”

The Main objective of the conference was to formulate a comprehensive strategy to engender local plans and policies that aim at poverty reduction in all governorates as well as constructing action plans that enhance the female economic participation at the governorate level.

The conference discussed three major themes, the first theme focused on the current situation in each governorate (the economic profile of the governorate, the current and past experiences regarding poverty reduction in the governorate). The second theme discussed the suggested policies of poverty reduction. The third theme highlighted the institutional support needed to enhance and encourage the female economic empowerment, this comprises the role of the different stakeholders : the government, the banking sector, the private sector and NGOs.
