Activities at AUC

ACM (Association of Computing Machinery)
President, AUC Student Chapter (Fall 2000-Spring 2001)
Contest Committee Head (Fall 1999-Spring 2000)
As President, Khaled was responsible for direction, management, and administration of the AUC chapter. He conducted many activities for the computer science community, including the first Egyptian national programming contest, for which he was awarded the ACM Egypt Chapter Certificate of Achievement for outstanding services.

Help Club
From Spring 1998-Spring 2000, he worked on several charity campaigns, helping others both inside and outside the University.

International Club
As a member in 1997-98, he helped in bringing together students from different countries and cultures to share ideas and to serve the university as one community.

Sports
Swimming: Professional training for 12 years; several awards and certificates.
Tae-Kwando: Red belt holder; three years on University team.
Judo: Brown belt holder.
Volleyball: Three years on University team.
Tennis: Two years of professional training.
Other: Self-developed sports such as Ping-Pong, basketball, soccer, chess, etc.

Employment and Internships

Spring 2001: Assistant for LAN and WAN courses at AUC, giving demos, grading papers, assisting and guiding students.

Summer 1999: LAN Designer and Administrator assistant, United Nations Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Cairo office.

Summer 1998: LAN Administrator, Office Automation, and Website Design assistant, United Nations Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Cairo office.

Summer 1997: Network and Computer Maintenance trainee and Giza Systems Engineering, sole agent for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC).

Fall 1996: Research assistant to University professor for Excel-based project on Decision Support Systems.

 

Personal Notes

Khaled was born in the U.S. and lived there for five years. He has also traveled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. In his leisure time, he enjoys drawing, reading English and Arabic literature, writing poetry, acting, and playing music.
