Key steps down after four years at the Caravan
Janet Key, journalism and mass communication (JRMC) professor and current managing director of the Caravan, is resigning after seven years with the American University in Cairo (AUC) to join the faculty at Northwestern University’s new Medill School of Journalism program in Doha, Qatar. Asmaa El Gammal was unanimously chosen as the new editor-in-chief of the Caravan by the newspaper’s board of directors on May 21. El Gammal, a double major in journalism and mass communication and political science, succeeds graduating senior Dina Basiony, who will finish her term at the end of this semester.
