Egypt offers a variety of Thanksgiving getaways

Thanksgiving weekend is fast approaching and many students are planning to take vacations over the three-day weekend. Some are going as far as Beirut or even Berlin, while others are heading to Egyptian destinations like Sharm El-Sheikh or Luxor and Aswan.
For those who haven’t planned trips and want to see the Egypt outside Cairo, here is a quick list of some of our favorite spots you can explore.

Egypt’s Famous Western Desert Oases

Although they’re very distinct from each other, the five main oases of the Western Desert are usually visited together as a package. If you’re thinking of a four-day-trip, Siwa, Dakhla, Kharga, Baharia and Farafra, Egypt’s Western Desert oases, are all known for their historic origins and fascinating environments. The oases are also known for chains of sand dunes, huge rock formations and palm tree groves as well as the healing springs that give life to these desert oases..

Abu Siimbel

Luxor and Aswan may be better known than Abu Simbel, but it is home to two massive stone temples near the Sudanese border. The site, located 290 kilometers west of Aswan on the western bank of Lake Nasser, can be reached by either bus, car or plane in a quick day trip from Aswan.
