AUC staff show off their talents

Five AUC staff members are showcasing their paintings, photography, pottery and other works of art in the first staff art exhibition from April 9 to April 17 at the American University in Cairo (AUC). The exhibit was organized by the human resources office (HR).
Nawal Ahmed, assistant director of student financial affairs office and one of the artists in the exhibition, uses recycled products, ranging from matchboxes, medicine bottles, chocolate raps and unused clothes, to create different figures such as dolls, plates and portraits.
“I used it to motivate the staff and get closer to them,” said Ahmed,
Another participant, Azza Akram Shafei, senior secretary in the provost’s office, is displaying her pottery: “I have always been inspired by both my grandmother and mother who made pottery,” said Shafei, adding that she is delighted that her work is reaching people.
Also participating with pottery is Ibrahim Abbas El Sherif, a supervisor in the mail office, showing such items such as vases, ashtrays and lamps. According to El Sherif, this is not the first time he has participated in both national and international exhibitions.
“I hope it will turn out great and tasteful,” said Wafaa Ismail, senior designer and production coordinator, who is showing a wide collection of photographs.
Additionally, Magda Elsehrawy, promotion assistant at AUC press, is showing her paintings.
