Overcrowding riles campus Students at the American University in Cairo (AUC) say they’re
concerned about the university’s burgeoning enrollment, which they
say is causing classrooms to be overcrowded and adversely affecting academic
quality. Provost search narrowed down to three candidates The search for a new provost at the American University
in Cairo (AUC) is now focused on three candidates, who are each holding
open sessions with faculty between Feb. 19 and Feb. 26, Tim Sullivan,
the current provost, is stepping down in summer 2008.
Abaza’s memorial brings tears and smiles Approximately 700 students, family members and colleagues
of the late Professor Mohamed Maged Abaza gathered to commemorate his
life during a memorial service held on the Feb.18 in Ewart Hall at the

the Israeli siege on the Palestinian- controlled Gaza Strip at a sit-in
organized by Al Quds Club on Wednesday Feb 20. The event, which took place
on the Greek campus during assembly hour, was attended by club members,
