Voice Writing the Caravan Voice is a task that most of our staff members try to avoid as it adds onto the pile of work that we already have to do to put out this paper every week. But after passing around the responsibility for a couple of days, one of us finally volunteers to write it and, whoever it is, ends up enjoying the writing process since there really is nothing better than having a ‘voice’ and being heard. Staggering toward a new campus
I got to know Chris over the summer, and I wouldn’t say we were particularly close, but we were as good friends as two people can be having known each other only three months. Chris had studied abroad in London early in his university career and developed quite a taste for drinking. There were nights when we had to carry the freshly turned 21-year-old home on the subway and even more nights when he staggered and babbled incoherently at passer-by. I was sure that one day he would meet his death at the bottom of a bottle, despite his enthusiasm for life and his sparkling disposition. Recently though, every time I order my double-shot latte from L’Aroma the man at the cashier looks at me and says: “yeb’alik nos geneih” (We owe you 50 piasters). Letter to the Editor
When I first encountered the bright red sign depicting an Asian character with all the stereotypical features--- the straw Chinese hat, the “squinty” eyes, the knotted nose, and even, courtesy of Photoshop, a drawn on mustache--- I had to do a double take. I could not believe that this highly offensive image actually received the Office of Student Development’s stamp of approval to be posted all over the university.
