We are pleased to announce that the Goldman Sachs Women's Entrepreneurship and Leadership (WEL) program is accepting new Scholarship applications for the second and third cohorts. The program will take place on AUC's New Cairo Campus and will be held for five weeks during the months of May - June 2009.

DEADLINE for APPLICATIONS: February 21, 2009

AUC has partnered with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to design and deliver this certificate program which is part of the 10,000 Women Global Initiative launched by Goldman Sachs to provide underserved women with a business and management education.

Who Should Apply?

The Goldman Sachs WEL program is open to all women entrepreneurs who are citizens of any country in the Arab Region. Competition for the Goldman Sachs WEL program is merit-based and open to anyone who:

  1. Is a female and citizen of a country in the Arab region
  2. Has a private business, or intends to have a private business (potential entrepreneur)
  3. Is a recipient of an undergraduate degree (BA) or the equivalent from a recognized academic institution;
  4. Is proficient in written and spoken English;
  5. Demonstrates financial need;
  6. Demonstrates maturity, flexibility and suitability to operate successfully in the program. Leadership potential and commitment to professional growth are also important criteria;
  7. Is able to travel to Cairo, Egypt and can reside for the duration of the program

For participants from the Arab region, air tickets, accommodation and transportation are covered by the program.

Completed application forms (including financial application form) and supporting documents should be sent before February 21, 2009 to:
