Prerequisite: CSCI 230, 231. Offered in fall and spring.
Overview of basic concepts. Register transfer and micro-operations. Basic computer organization and design. Microprogrammed control, Input/Output organization, memory organization. Pipeline and vector processing, multiprocessors. Students run hardware experiments and perform a term project on the analysis of a variety of chips.
