Examination of specific topics in genre and other areas of special interest and expertise of the faculty. May be repeated for credit if content changes. In recent years, the following courses have been offered under this heading: The Arabian Nights, The Lyrical Mode (in English, Arabic and French), Blackness, Identity and the Othello Paradigm, Literature of Alexandria, The Orient in Western Imagination, Travel Literature of Egypt, Discovery Narratives and the Emergent Discourse of Colonialism, the Bloomsbury Group, Utopias, Gothic and the Literature of Horror, Detective and Adventure Fiction.
