Same as SOC 409. Prerequisites: nine hours of SOC/PSYC coursework and senior standing, or consent of the instructor. Offered occasionally. An interdisciplinary social-psychological approach to the analysis and interpretation of the phenomenon of addiction in modern society. This course explores the role of social sciences in addressing the issue and the significance of social psychological explanations in theory, treatment and research on addiction. The student is required to participate in fieldwork and class presentations and do assigned readings. |
