Regarding problem 4.1

To find the stress in the beam:

• Substitute the deflections in the local beam element equations to find the reactions and moments at the nodes
• Use these reactions to draw the axial and shear force and bending moment diagrams for the beam elements
• From the diagrams, look for the maximum stress on the beam by substituting into the bending stress equation:
