Same as TEFL 525. Prerequisite: TAFL 501. Offered once a year. Contrastive analysis and error analysis: models and theoretical underpinnings. Contrastive analysis beyond the sentence level. Discourse functions starting with sentence function perspective and including speech acts and discourse organization (spoken and written). Implications for foreign-language teaching/learning.
