Offered in fall, spring and summer. This course is designed for science majors, but can be taken by anyone interested in studying biology in more depth than Biology 100. Introduction to principles of biology with an orientation toward molecular and organismal organization of protista, plants and animals, organic and inorganic molecules, cell theory, membranes and internal structures of cells, multicellular organization, nutrient procurement, gas exchange, photosynthesis, anaerobic and aerobic metabolism and cellular reproduction. Laboratories introduce the student to basic principles of plant and animal structure and function and builds on the principles of inheritance to the structure and function of tissues and organ systems. |
