Offered in spring. This course is designed for science majors, but can be taken by anyone interested in studying biology in more depth than Biology 100. Based on diversity of life: viruses, bacteria, protistans, fungi, plants and animals. Concentrates on development, structure, and function of plants and animals, population genetics, ecology and the environment, and animal behavior. Laboratories introduce students to systematics, evolution, population dynamics, and modeling of populations of organisms and ecosystems. Some field applications are examined. |
