Random Variables
- Their values cannot be predicted accurately.
- Formally, a random
variable is a function that
assigns a real number to each outcome in
the sample space of a random experiment.
- Examples include:
- The
number of students passing an exam out of 25 students.
- The
time to the first failure of a computer which is known to fail, on
average, once a year.
- The
temperature on any given day.
