Cairo today  is not only capital of the land that gave writing to civilization, but also is at the hub of mass communication for the entire Middle East. This  program is designed to prepare students from Egypt, the Middle East, Africa, the United States, and other countries for careers in news, public relations and advertising, and related fields.

Bachelor of Arts

Coursework is professionally oriented to train students to international standards in the skills of writing, reporting, editing, and production, as well as in media history, ethics, and responsibility.

Students from Arab countries must complete the university's general requirements in Arabic language before taking 300- and 400-level courses in journalism and mass communication.

Television courses are supported by the department's professionally equipped Kamal Adham Center for Television Journalism.

A total of 120 credits is required for the bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication, with professional sequences in broadcast journalism, integrated marketing communication, and journalism:

Collateral Requirements (21 credits): 

Students in Journalism and Broadcast Journalism must select 21 credits from the following list or six credit hours and a minor of 15 hours selected in consultation with the academic adviser. Students in Integrated Marketing Communication have to select from the following list the number of collateral credits needed, beyond those specified for their specialization, to meet the 21 credit requirement.

Minor

The study of journalism and communication provides the student with a basic exposure to news-reporting skills and social issues in the mass media.

Requirements (15 credits): JRMC 200 Introduction to Communication, JRMC 201 Mass-Media Writing, and  JRMC 400 Mass Media Ethics and Responsibility, and six credits from other journalism and communication courses (other than JRMC 499), in consultation with adviser.
