Open competition Research:
The Program offers grants in the field of local community development. Successful proposals are characterized by the availability of mechanisms for utilizing the research results. The selection process is through an open contest announced twice a year.An independent technical committee reviews the proposals.
 
Eligibility
Egyptian researchers and non governmental organization are eligible to apply. Applicants may apply members of or as representatives of their institutions. Priority will be given to research groups which reflect cooperation between researchers and implementers whether from NGO’s or local government. An independent technical committee will review the proposals. The program encourages applications from junior researchers.
 
Application Procedures
The proposal should discuss the following:
- The main objective of the research emphasizing the development issue or idea.
- Literature review which includes an evaluation of previous research on the subject and the current gaps which need to be researched.
- The theoretical framework of the proposed research.
- The methodology and research techniques which will be used to investigate the objective of the research including the methods for data gathering and data analysis.
- Plans for dissemination of research results.
Mechanisms for utilizing research results.
- The Proposal should include a time frame and the required budget as well as a curriculum vita for each researcher including a list of publications.
 
Deadline
The dead line for submitting the final proposals for the first cycle is Dec. 15th and May 15th for the second cycle. Applicants also have the opportunity to send their proposal’s drafts at any time of the year provided that it is at least six weeks before the final deadline. The secretariat will respond with written suggestions that may improve the quality of the research for the final submission.
